“Additive Manufacturing of Refractory Metals”

Presentation on Thursday Sep. 16, 2021 at 02.30 pm (CEST) in German

Contents:

Additive manufacturing of refractory metals poses special challenges to the surrounding atmosphere, as it must be free of oxygen and nitrogen. The safest method is machining in a vacuum chamber.
As an alternative to electron beam welding, additive machining in a vacuum using a laser is presented.

Presenter:

Johannes Weiser
(Evobeam GmbH, DE)

In cooperation with:
Uwe Glatzel,
Haneen Daoud,
Agata Kulig

(all “Neue Materialien Bayreuth GmbH”, DE)

Additive Manufacturing System:
WiLaVAM by Evobeam

Results:

Application rates of more than 1.5 kg/h for stainless steel and about 1 kg/h for titanium could be achieved with a 2kW laser.
